Spur Straps
Spur straps hold your spurs in place over the boot and take most of the wear, so they are usually replaced long before the spurs. This range covers slim English straps in plain and patent leather, biothane and braided straps, plus shaped and tooled western spur straps in adult, ladies and youth sizes.
They are part of our wider Spurs collection.

English or Western Straps
English spur straps are narrow, usually 13 to 16mm, and run under the instep with a single buckle. Western straps are wider and often shaped or stamped, and attach to the spur buttons.
- Plain and patent leather suit dressage, jumping and showing.
- Biothane and synthetic straps wipe clean and do not crack.
- Tooled western straps come in basket, floral and barbwire stamping.
Getting the Fit Right
A strap should hold the spur level on the heel counter without twisting. Check the buckle sits on the outside of the boot and that the end tucks into the keeper. Youth straps suit smaller riding boots and ankle boots.
Looking After Leather
Wipe off sweat and mud after riding and condition the leather regularly so it stays supple. Replace any strap that shows cracking near the buckle holes.
Spurs and Parts
For western spurs and rowels see western spurs. Buttons, hangers and tie downs are in spur accessories. Pair western straps with western boots, riding chaps and stock and western tack.

Frequently Asked Questions
Are spur straps sold in pairs?
Most spur straps are sold as a pair, one for each boot, with buckles already fitted. Some western straps are sold singly or with separate buckle sets, so check the product description. Spurs themselves are often sold without straps, which lets you choose a width and style that suits your boots.
What width spur strap do I need?
English spurs usually take a strap of around 13 to 16mm, matching the slot on the spur neck. Western spurs use wider straps that attach to buttons on the spur band. Measure the slot or button gap on your spurs before ordering so the strap fits snugly and does not slip.
Can I use leather spur straps for showing?
Yes. Plain black or brown leather straps are the traditional choice for dressage and showing, and patent leather is popular in the show ring. Match the strap colour to your boots for a neat look. Check your society or discipline rules, as some classes limit decoration on tack and attire.
